(almost) wordless wednesday
notes from maggie's farm
We made it! Exactly one year ago today, we shared our first full blog post, new paths, and it is with fondness, gratitude, and amazement that we consider the path upon which this little blog has brought us, and through which you have accompanied us, on a journey filled with laughter, good friends, open, starry skies, chicken-y, goat-y, duck-y, dog-y, cat-y, rabbit-y, garden-y, farm-y fullness, with some pretty good food and drink to share along the way. And we're just getting started.
In keeping with the spirit of (almost) wordless wednesday, we'll keep today's text brief, however we just can't miss the opportunity to begin our new year, and the celebration of the past one, by sharing it with those of you who made it possible, and so pleasurable. Thank you, thank you, thank you, a million times thank you, for riding along as we share our lives, our home, and our plates, with you.
Today, we revisit some of our favorite, early, and very rusty posts from the first days of our blog. Click on the link below each picture to find the rest of the story, however 'beginner-ish' it might be. The blog design has changed quite a bit, so you'll see things are a bit 'out of whack', and some pretty amateurish attempts at formatting, but, then again, you'll also see how far we've come from the early days.
We appreciate the patience you've shown all along.
We have some exciting things to share with you in this next year: new features, new opportunities, new developments, new ventures, and new giveaways! More details, soon, so don't miss a thing, and join us tomorrow for Thirsty Thursday, from maggie's farm.
P.S. If you'd like to give us a little present, leave a comment below and let us know what you've enjoyed over the past year. Your opinions matter so much to us, and help guide us along new paths in developing content that is interesting and relevant to you. We love to hear what you think! Thanks--
Maggie, I've really enjoyed following along and I'm looking forward to many more fabulous posts. Trying to pick a favorite post would be like trying to pick your favorite child, as they say. I've really enjoyed them all, but some of my favorites are:
ReplyDeletePotage Parmentier - I think I wanted to dive into the bowl:)
Creole style BBQ Shrimp - Brought back memories of taking trips to New Orleans with my parents.
Appreciate all the hard work you put into your blog. You always make it look beautiful and have a terrific story to tell. Thank you for your blog,
Steph AKA TCC
Dear Steph,
DeleteThank you so much for your kind words of encouragement. I appreciate the time you always take to comment thoughtfully, and today is no exception. You have been a reader turned friend, and what a joy it is to share the things that are meaningful to me, with you.
Thank YOU.

ReplyDeleteThank you so much for stopping by and dropping a line. We truly have been blessed, and in no small part by readers like you who have encouraged us along the way. If you're down in Texas, stop in for dinner!
DeleteThis is my first visit and hope to return for more. Your posts are very delicious. Love it! Now I know where to get great recipes! I am glad you found your encore and it seems like you are doing awesome!
ReplyDeleteHi there, and thank you for dropping in and celebrating with us. So happy to have you join us on our path. Your post, encore, made me feel so happy about our second act around here. Thank you!
DeleteCongrats on your first year - so exciting!!! Some great food photos here!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ann. Appreciate you dropping by and wishing us well on our first year.
DeleteAll I can say is that having the divine opportunity to be your friend and to follow you on your blog/farm journey has become one of the highlights of my mornings for way over a year now. I remember so many of your posts above and like Steph, having to pick just one would be torturous on too many food levels. There is no doubt that you are doing what you love. To write and put together a post everyday takes more than just grit and determination. It takes all the talents that God has given you and focus for each time you look into that camera or creative flow when you are styling that dish. Your blog is more than just words, it's a beautiful cookbook (the kind with those yummy glossy pics) with stories that are genuine tales from the heart, that make me walk away feeling joy! Your recipes don't make one feel intimidated but more like I just came in and sat down at your kitchen table and with a little help you feel as if you too can easily make that same yummy dish for your family. I have also read your posts sometimes at the end of my day and it's been the perfect nightcap to wash away a dreary stressful day. Thank you from my heart for being such an inspiration in my life.
ReplyDeleteYou are such a blessing, my friend. I remember that your's was the first 'non-family' comment I ever received and how that made my heart swell, just as you've done here, again. I'm going to take all of the nice things you've said and type them out on little slips of paper like affirmations, so that I might attempt to live up to them!
DeleteThanks you for being such a supportive person on our path this year. Love you!
I am so glad I found your blog. I now wait for posts to pop into my facebook and visit. It is nice having a place like yours to visit (an escape from the hectic NYC life...) I love your pictures and your food..I really like the way you write. Very sweet and easy. Continued success!
ReplyDeleteDear Winnie,
DeleteThank you!! I am so happy you've become a follower. Your encouragement means so much. If I'm ever in NYC again, I'd love to share a meal with you. (I love, love, LOVE your city.)
Best Regards,
Mags
