six days of feasting, all on
notes from maggie's farm
Today, I am grateful for diverse holiday traditions.
I am happy that I have a diverse community of friends with which I celebrate the holiday season. Today, at sundown, begins the first day of Chanukah.
This year, we enjoyed making this simple version of sufganiyot, a yeast-filled doughnut filled with something as simple as jam or jelly. We broke out our final, precious jar of concord grape with pinot noir jelly from uncanny preserves, and relied at the experts at King Arthur Flour to show us the way. Follow their link for the simple and thorough recipe for your own delicious treat to usher in the Festival of Lights.

Blessed are you, Lord, our God, kind of the universe, who has
sanctified us with His commandments and commanded us to light the candles of
Hanukkah.
Blessed are you, Lord, our God, king of the universe, who
performed miracles for our ancestors in those days at this time.
Blessed are you, Lord, our God, king of the universe, who has kept
us alive, sustained us, and enabled us to reach this season.
Here is wishing all of our best and brightest days be before us.
