we  headed out to our first county fair, with all the required labels,

where we were very warmly welcomed even though we were the newcomers at the table

there was a little magic in the air

there were horses everywhere,

and the party began,

with a pledge,

and a prayer.

there were little dancing girls, the apples of their daddy's eye,

and people lined up for days for frito pie.

old men pitched pennies,

among the horse's whinnies

and we took home the loot!
we had three blue ribbons,
the best in their divisions, and
the best of show, to boot!

awww, it was beginner's luck,
you may say,
but i'm gonna call it
my blue ribbon day.

  6. YES!!!! Send me some prize winning goodness!!! I need quick b-fast items....
I made some gingered blueberry "poptarts" this weekend - quite tasty - handmade fruit pastries would be good in that box too if you have time!

  8. Foodtv - an alton brown recipe for pocket pies. I made my own filling - just some blueberries, fresh ginger, water, lime juice(out of lemons), and a little sugar all cooked down.

    1. 3 blue ribbons, 3 3rd place ribbons--I'm a happy camper! The photos didn't do as well as I'd hoped. The photo lab messed up my order (!) so the sizes were way smaller than I ordered, and not matted properly. It was a real disadvantage, as they got swallowed up by the larger pieces, but the eggs and mason jar picture got one of the 3rd place ribbons. I'm grateful for that, being my first time 'exhibit'. All of my preserved foods got ribbons, and that thrilled me! Thank you for your support!
